Every year during the summer months, REAPS collects compostable kitchen wastes from participating local restaurants. The waste is weighed for statistical purposes and fed to one of our many hungry composters. Businesses are kept informed of how much waste they have diverted from the landfill, and business owners may use this information to promote their business as a green business. Since the environment is on everyone's mind these days being green can help set a business apart from its competitors, as well as making the employees feel good that they're doing their part to help Mother Earth.
This program is free of charge. REAPS provides buckets, which are picked up according to a pre-arranged schedule in exchange for empty buckets. All buckets are washed to Food Safe standards before being returned to the business. Current participating businesses include Tastebuds Cafe and Books and Co.
